Dedication of the New Herb Garden
First of all, we'd like to welcome you to our new blog, "Walking Together". Please visit the blog to keep informed of news at the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind!
Our latest news is that yesterday we had the pleasure of dedicating the Taste and Smell Herb Garden . The entire project was donated and constructed byDerech Eretz - the company that operates Highway 431. The company wanted to volunteer at the Center, and decided to donate this herb garden to fulfill a long standing dream at the Center to establish this type of sensory garden. The garden is located in the pergola walk area, a few feet away from the koi fish pond. Workers from Highway 431 were here all week constructing the garden. Yesterday, they dedicated the garden by planting the herbs and plants with about 15 members of staff from Highway 431.
We will be making signs in Braille that will be placed around the area.
A couple of weeks ago we received a donation of 200 Tulip bulbs from from a donor in Holland. The bulbs were planted and are beginning to sprout. When the tulips will be in full bloom it should be a beautiful sight!
