Today Netanel has completed his certification as a Mobility Teacher for the Blind using Guide Dogs, and received his certificate from Noach and Ami. The fact that Netanel has combined these two qualifications enables him to have a broad and intensive perception of the world of mobility for blind clients. "I'm well acquainted with mobility using a white cane, with various eye disorders, and the 'language' used in cane mobility," explained Netanel. "Being familiar with the cues from the surroundings that we use when working with a cane allows me to perceive the advantages and disadvantages of a cane versus a guide dog for mobility. There are many cues that a blind person receives when working with a cane. A guide dog simply leads a person around these cues, so a; guide dog user does not receive them in the same manner that a cane user does. Not all the instructors at the center have received certification as mobility instructors, but Netanel plans to share his knowledge with others in the instruction staff. Using the clues with which he is familiar from the world of white cane training can help while working with a dog. People can be taught which clues to take advantage of and which to ignore. Netanel received his certificate from Ami and Rafi at the general staff meeting last week. "Five years ago I began looking for work and I can't believe that I am now working at this wonderful place. I enjoy coming to work each day, not only because of my work but because of the staff. Netanel thanked Rafi and Ami for their support and instruction throughout his training period. Netanel is now beginning to train a new class of guide dogs. We wish him the best of luck in the future!
