In previous years guide dogs have been presented in the Knesset and M.K. have had the opportunity to experience walking an obstacle course with a guide dog blindfolded. This year, as in previous years, blind and visually impaired Israelis marked "Blind Day" with various activities to boost public awareness, including a bike ride and hike in the Ben Shemen Forest. However, Yutah, a golden retriever puppy, will be walking the hallways of the Knesset and boosting public awareness throughout the year. Yutah is being raised by Eran Yussub, who is an intern for M.K. Ilan Gilon (Meretz). Yutah arrives at work each day together with Yussub, wearing her blue puppy coat. M.K. Gilon has noted that she works hard, and is already getting a few bills ready. M.K. Gilon is a person with a disability, and uses a cane or motorized scooter to move about the Knesset. He is now the chairman of the Knesset sub-committee for accessibility. "We don't say "handicapped," noted M.K. Gilon. "Every person has his or her strong and weak points." We wish all our puppies who are with their puppy raisers lots of success, and hope they will all be guide dogs in the next year and a half or two!
