July began with two gala events for blind and visually impaired children and their families at the Center. The first, held on July 3rd, was the annual end of the school year event held for children of the ELIYA kindergarten in Petach Tikva. The kids were busy riding buddy bikes, jumping on inflatable playground equipment, modeling with play dough, and blowing soap bubbles. A great beginning for the hot summer! The second event, held on July 13th, was the annual "Happening" with "Ofek L'Yeladeinu" – (Horizons for Our Children). The kids enjoyed jumping on inflatable playground equipment, baking pita bread, riding buddy bikes and tandems, and putting on makeup. A singer and guitar player provided entertainment as well. One of the most important objectives of this event is to get kids acquainted with guide dogs, and the children enjoyed the biggest attraction of all – a chance to visit with the dogs in the kennels. The event was organized by the "Ofek" tribe from the local scouts group from Modi'in. Below are pictures from the two events.
